Acusensus Secures Landmark US Contract with Connecticut for Work Zone Speed Enforcement

Acusensus Limited (ASX: ACE) has secured its largest contract to date in the United States, winning a US$22.6 million (approximately AU$34 million) deal with the Connecticut Department of Transportation. The agreement marks the company’s first fully operational automated enforcement program in the US, targeting speed control in road work zones.

The five-year contract will see Acusensus deploy up to 15 mobile speed enforcement cameras across Connecticut, with the first units expected to go live in November 2025 and full operations beginning in early 2026. Under the agreement, Acusensus will retain ownership of the camera assets, handling deployment, maintenance and processing duties, including reviewing images, identifying licence plates and preparing violation notices.

Revenue will be generated through a combination of fixed monthly fees and deployment-based charges. This model aligns with Acusensus’ existing enforcement programs in Australia and New Zealand and strengthens its foothold in North America.

Managing Director and Founder Alexander Jannink called the contract a step change for the company’s US operations.

“I am very proud of our team for growing our business and reputation in the USA to secure this first automated enforcement camera program,” Jannink said. “This contract marks a pivotal achievement and validates the multi-year strategy we have followed to build our US business in staged steps.”

The Connecticut program follows earlier workzone enforcement projects in Kentucky and Arkansas, where Acusensus supplied speed enforcement trailers. This third win at the state level reflects the company’s growing credibility with US authorities and its focus on deploying technology that improves road safety in high-risk environments.

Acusensus' technology, driven by artificial intelligence, is designed to detect various road safety infractions including mobile phone use, seatbelt violations, speeding and other driver behaviours. The Connecticut contract confirms the viability of its approach in one of the world’s largest and most regulated markets.

To support continued growth, Acusensus is also in advanced discussions with major financial institutions to secure up to $25 million in credit facilities. These funds would support further program rollouts, including revolving and uncommitted facilities tailored for infrastructure delivery.

As the company ramps up its North American presence, this contract positions Acusensus to become a major player in the global automated enforcement space. The Connecticut program will serve as a powerful case study for future tenders across the US and beyond.
