Straker Secures Fresh EU Contract for AI-Powered Translation

Straker Limited has extended its footprint in the European public sector, announcing a new contract with the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union (CdT). The deal reinforces Straker’s position as a global leader in AI-powered translation services and marks a continuation of its relationship with the European Union, which dates back to 2022.

Under the agreement, Straker will provide translation and post-editing services from English into French. The contract carries an estimated value of €525,000, or approximately NZ$1.06 million at current exchange rates, based on expected volumes over the contract term.

The initial term is 12 months, but the arrangement can be renewed automatically up to three times, setting the stage for a potential four-year engagement. Either party can opt out by providing notice at least three months before the end of a current term.

Chief Executive Grant Straker welcomed the deal, noting that it underscores the company’s technical strength and reliability. “We are naturally pleased to be continuing our relationship under this agreement, which affirms both our technological leadership and our proven ability to meet the demanding linguistic and compliance needs of EU institutions,” he said.

The Translation Centre, known for providing language services to a wide array of EU bodies, maintains high standards for linguistic accuracy, data security and workflow efficiency—criteria that align well with Straker’s hybrid model of AI translation layered with human expertise.
